In November 2022, 7-year-old Athena Strand was abducted from her father's home in Paradise, Texas. On December 2nd, 2022, her body was found 15 miles away in the water. Investigators tracked down a FedEx delivery driver who had dropped packages at the house around the time that Athena went missing. Tanner Horner, 31, the delivery driver was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and capital m*rder. On April 7th, 2026, Tanner Horner pleaded guilty. The trial will only have one phase: the punishment phase, where the jury must decide whether he must be sentenced to death or life without the possibility of parole.
Note: The Judge did not allow the video and audio recording of Athena in the van to be shown on any court feed. The jurors and gallery members heard that. But we did not (thankfully).
