⌇Joshua James Zimmerman, a convicted rapist and accused murderer from Connecticut, has been on the run since 2023. His criminal activities span across multiple states, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. Zimmerman initially fled after being charged with raping a male inmate in Connecticut in 2023.

⌗ Zimmerman shot and killed Keyanna execution style and fled to Mississippi using Greyhound.

⌗ There, Zimmerman met a homeowner at a Home Depot and offered to help with landscaping and construction work. Days later, he attempted to kill the homeowner, robbed him, and stole his pickup truck to continue evading authorities. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, and Zimmerman was arrested shortly thereafter.

⌗ In a bizarre turn of events, Zimmerman escaped custody nine months later, walking out of a courthouse with a gun and other materials provided to him in a binder. He was reportedly given keys to free himself from handcuffs and leg shackles.

⌗ Zimmerman then asked a good Samaritan for a ride to Walmart at a gas station across from the courthouse. When the individual informed him that he was going to Memphis, Zimmerman responded, "That's even better." He was last seen in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 15, and has been a ghost ever since.

〉On July 18, Tina Petrillo, the mother of the escaped prisoner, further complicated the multi-state manhunt after confessing to sending Zimmerman financial aid and communicating with him on the day of his escape.

⌗ She emphasized the dire consequences her involvement might have on her already troubled family, facing critical health challenges and the potential disruption of their lives.

"How can you let me go to jail, I have till Friday to give them something more or I get charged for the 3 phone calls and 3 CashApps I did the day you escaped." Petrillo wrote. "Never would I ever have done that knowing what you did. Why are you running from your mistakes? Please, for the love of my baby girls and Nathan turn yourself in."

⌗ She disclosed making three phone calls and three CashApp transactions, urging her son to surrender to the U.S. Marshals. However, Petrillo has since retracted her statements, adding new hurdles to law enforcement’s efforts.

〉To make matters absolutely worse, surveillance footage showcasing his escape was deleted at the same time authorities were scouring the region for the escapee. The courts issued a gag order barring the local district attorney from speaking on the situation until Zimmerman is captured.

✰ Law enforcement agencies across multiple states are working tirelessly to apprehend Zimmerman, focusing their efforts on a nearby apartment following strong leads suggesting that he might be hiding there. The manhunt continues to escalate as authorities work to ensure the safety of the public and bring the escaped prisoner to justice.
