Roaster Kat | Day 4, Best Friends' Rocky Mountain Road Trip: Coffee Fail, Perfect Campsite, and Evening Drinks @roasterkat | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
October 7, 2021
It's the fourth day (and last night) of Liz and Kat's Best Friends' Rocky Mountain Road Trip Adventure Extravaganza.
This cold morning starts off on the wrong foot when our camping stove won't light. News to us, propane tanks freeze in cold weather. So we hit the road and find the most convenient coffee - at a gas station - because Liz needs caffeination. We continue to Lander where Kat gets her coffee fix at Crux Coffee, serving Huckleberry Roasters from Denver! All fueled up and ready to go, we get a hike in and explore a river with some falls.
Back on the road, we have a difficult time finding a place to stay for the night, even with the help of the National Geographic Atlas. We see a herd of pronghorns, but not much else. After hitting a dead end, we decide to go with the sure thing and drive a little further off the road toward Cottonwood Campground - a *beautiful* creek-side spot that was absolutely worth it. Despite the bear scare (which turned out to be a cow...). We eat a delicious homemade dinner by the campfire. After splitting a bottle of wine (and some whiskey...) our evening ends with some absolute shenanigans involving apples cores and spiders.
If you're just joining us, make sure to go back and start with Day 1: youtu.be/kwjSIkwvSz0
And catch us tomorrow for the FINAL DAY, Day 5, of our adventure.
