Sara Dhooma | Day 3- Dientes de Navarino | Serene Lakeside Hiking, Thick Boggy Mud, & Some Cliff Bushwhacking Fun @SaraDhooma | Uploaded March 2020 | Updated October 2024, 32 minutes ago.
Day 3 - hiking the ‘Dientes de Navarino’ trek. Random tenting spots and no idea how far I walked.
I was astonished my tent didn’t collapse or tear into pieces during the torrential overnight rain storm. I did get up twice to pile more rocks on the corners. Kudos to Six Moon Designs!
No big pass today, but several short, steep, and muddy sections. The overnight rain turned some parts into a slip’n’slide. The flat areas were also very boggy, I routinely sunk to my ankles in the dirty water. The invasive beavers are to blame for all the flooding.
This trail has different options with very little markers. We chose to bushwhack and shortcut around a lake. It was the wrong move and got cliffed out in a mess of brambles. Raul scrambled his way through, but Ricardo and I backtracked the long way over a steep hill. I love the excitement of taking bushwhacking risks and embracing the adventure!
Stopped at the bottom of the next pass because a big rainstorm was rolling in. Found shelter from the wind in a tight little grove of trees.
