Bit of a Spicy pun there, right? š
I got myself a Grind. It sounds really quite good and I explored it a fair bit in this jam. I have a couple of gripes with it, specifically in the context of my setup. Firstly, the pitch CV completely overrides whatever the sequencer or keyboard is sending, rather than adding them together like literally every other Behringer I own. I normally control the Crave by using its internal keyboard to chromatic transpose what Iām sending from the SQ-1. I canāt do that on the Grind. This brings us to the second gripe, which is mostly a me issue: while the oscillator has a LOT of of sweet spots between the different models, but I donāt find them hugely intuitive to jump between, and a lot of them will be inaudible at a lot of different ranges, and using the āhiddenā menu to quickly transpose entire octaves is not as quick and intuitive as using the keyboard to find the spots that work.
Anyhow, still got a hell of a lot of fun out of it and a few rather unexpected uses. I both its sequencer and its envelope generator as a programmable LFO for the Edge, allowing some funky stuff. Thereās a lot of synergy to be had when half the patchbay isnāt used to get two osc PWM on the Crave as I normally do!
My normal mount broke, hence the portrait videoā¦ Also, I'm in the process of completely redoing the setup for the mixer, moving the software off my laptop and onto a headless Raspberry Pi, so the settings weren't exactly amazing, there are several points whether this is clipped.
