Those allegations later became part of Malone’s civil lawsuit, in which he claimed Harden paid approximately $20,000 to have a “hit” carried out against him. Harden has consistently denied those allegations, and law enforcement never charged or implicated Harden in connection with the assault.
The underlying criminal case resulted in former V Live security employee Darian Blount being convicted of aggravated robbery and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Prosecutors argued that Blount orchestrated the attack after Malone criticized Harden on Facebook over the cost of a youth basketball camp. Blount denied organizing the assault, and his defense maintained he was attempting to break up the altercation.
