Over the next several months, my friend Davood Gozli and I have decided to read Hayden White’s “Tropics of Discourse: Essays in Cultural Criticism.” This week, we discuss just the introductory essay, “Tropology, Discourse, and the Modes of Human Consciousness.” If all goes well, we plan to post future discussions of the remaining twelve essays at the pace of about one every 1-2 weeks. We are currently open to inviting in other interlocutors. If you would like to participate in future discussions about this book or possible future selections, please let one of us know.

Davood and I both welcome your comments and input.
