Owlripper release an epic dark ambient / noise / industrial journey of an album by Icelandic artist Dauðaþráhyggja (from here on known as D//O), which translates as 'Death Obsession', and is also the name of the album. Here is the video I have made for D//O's first single, which uses all the footage they sent me of a 4+ hour journey from Reykjavík to Akureyri (where they are from) and other surrounding towns. I am very proud of this video and its hallucinogenic capabilities, and I hope it adds an enjoyable dimension to the monumental sounds of Dauðaþráhyggja. ('Fyrsta líkaminn' translates as 'The First Body')
Within the first minute of hearing this track, I knew making a visual for it was necessary and going to be a lot of fun, with its 15 second pulses, surges of noise and synth, reaching a huge crescendo, finally to the calming down period returning you to some semblance of safety, after what has been a mindmelting, energy debilitating trip in vision and sound.
What follows this track makes the forthcoming album a crushing, beautiful, overwhelming, cathartic and hypnotic body of work, complete with some very striking artwork realised by D//O over the last few years.
