My Suspension mods and upgrades on the '82 Datsun 280ZX are finally complete! Here is an overview of what I've done to get the suspension up to my standards without blowing the bank! Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy the video and find the information useful.
***Edit: After thoroughly testing this suspension setup for several months and pushing it to the limits numerous times, I am only more satisfied with the characteristics of my finished suspension setup. The car is balanced perfectly (slight understeer at low rpms, but slight oversteer at higher rpms just like a true racecar). The 280ZX handles like it is on rails, has minimal body-roll, and is able to corner as fast or faster than other sports cars with racing suspension, often leaving them behind in the corners. I have not noticed any negative characteristics at low, mid, or high speeds and it absorbs small bumps without chattering teeth (like many performance suspension setups do). All in all, I couldn't be happier with the result and I doubt I would be as impressed with the performance if I had installed an expensive suspension setup!
My 280ZX has Rack & Pinion Steering, no Power-Steering, no A/C, no ABS, 4 wheel Disc Brakes, 3.90 Final Drive and R200 Differential. L28E straight-6, 2.8L engine. Below I have provided the full list of upgrades/mods.
Current upgrades include:
-Headers
-Cat-Delete
-14" Rims with 225mm wide Radials
-Headlight Covers
-Grant Steering Wheel
-Cusco Strut Tower Stabilizer Bars
-BRE 240Z Wedge Wing (custom fitted)
-Rear Side Window Louvers
-KYB Gas-A-Just rear Struts
-KYB Excel-G Gas front shocks
-Battery relocation to rear
-Suspension Techniques Rear Sway Bar
-Lowered Suspension (Cut Springs: 1.25 Coils for front and flipped, 1.5 Coils for rear)
