Newly released dashcam footage from the Arkansas State Police shows a trooper breaking a car's rear window, punching a passenger, and pulling his dreadlocks during a tense arrest following a high-speed chase. The passenger, 23-year-old former college basketball player Tedrick Washington, was forcibly removed from the vehicle in Blytheville after officers stopped the car for speeding. According to an incident report, Trooper Theodore Henderson claimed Washington refused commands to exit the vehicle and moved as if he were preparing to strike. Washington disputes this account, stating he was not aggressive and did not resist. He was charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of government operations, and failing to wear a seatbelt before being released the following morning. Local officials in Blytheville have called the footage "troubling," and state police are currently investigating the incident.
