The DARWIN project is developing AI-powered digital assistants and human–AI collaboration frameworks to support the more automated operations of the future. These will ensure equal or greater safety levels and an equal or reduced crew workload compared to today's full-crew operations. Validation flight trials have proven the capabilities of the AI-based Introductory Digital Co-Pilot in real operational scenarios. These confirm the system's ability to reduce pilot workload, enhance situational awareness and safely support future extended minimum crew and single pilot operations.
