Usually water is pulled through a plant and into the leaves by transpiration. But sometimes, on humid summer nights, the water gets pushed up from the roots to the leaves. That is what has happened in this ragweed plant, as observed in Oklahoma in May 2023. Water is usually pulled, but sometimes pushed, from the roots up to the leaves.
