Many Native American tribes depended on agriculture; they were not savage hunter-gatherers, as their European and white American conquerors claimed. Moreover, they practiced agriculture that was a mixture of crops (polyculture) and often in the shade of trees (agroforestry) which is ecologically more sustainable than "modern" American agriculture (and European too; this video was made in France).
