Charles Darwin is often called the father of human evolution—but there’s more to the story than most people are told.
In the second edition of On the Origin of Species, Darwin famously wrote that there is “grandeur in this view of life,” adding that life was originally breathed “by the Creator.” Many don’t realize these words were added under pressure from those who held to the Biblical account of creation.
Later, Darwin openly admitted that he used the term “creation” only to follow public opinion, stating that he wished he had instead said life “appeared by some wholly unknown process.”
