You can hate me, but for me the real confrontation between Darkness and Light should look something like this. A man or a woman in the role of a Sun Charmer does not matter. Equality between them is important. It was frankly boring to watch the confrontation between a 600-year-old Grisha, very dangerous in all respects, and a poor innocent 17-year-old girl who had just learned about her strength and trained how much? A couple of months? Weeks? And who still has absolutely no life experience. Not only could Alina not resist the Darkling, but without amplifiers she could not have resisted Zoya, Ivan, or any other Grisha.
So for me, the Darkling’s confrontation was 10 times more interesting with other characters than with a defenseless kitten named Alina.
