Join @BobbleheadGeorge and Periodic Presidents for a look at POTUS #11, James K. Polk! "Who is James K. Polk?" jeered the Whigs in 1844. The answer...he was a Democrat in the mold of Andrew Jackson who was dedicated to westward expansion. Often referred to as the "hardest working president ever," Polk acquired the Oregon Territory from Great Britain seized the whole southwest from Mexico. Don't forget that the lowered the tariffs and created an Independent Treasury!
