‘Dark Tourism and Darker Histories’ was a Ballarat Heritage Festival event presented by the Eureka Centre in partnership with Tales from Rat City on Sunday 29 May 2022.
The session was chaired by Anthony Camm, Manager Eureka Centre Ballarat with panellists Bonnie Chew, Wadawurrung Traditional Owner and Director, Mirryu Cultural Consulting; Tara Calaby, PhD candidate at LaTrobe University, Melbourne, researching the social worlds of women in Victoria’s lunatic asylums between 1860 and 1914; and Nathaniel Buchanan, Managing Director of Eeries Tours.
