Dark Star is a 1974 cult classic sci-fi film directed by John Carpenter and a legendary 1968 Grateful Dead song. The film is a low-budget, cynical, and humorous look at a crew on a long-term space mission destroying "unstable planets" while suffering from extreme boredom and broken equipment.
