Verdegrand | Dark Souls Piano: Dark Sun Gwyndolin & Moonlight Butterfly @Verdegrand | Uploaded 5 years ago | Updated 3 hours ago
Hi, this is my piano arrangement of "Dark Sun Gwyndolin" from Dark Souls, composed by Motoi Sakuraba. This is also the theme of the Moonlight Butterfly.
This is a very interesting track, because, despite it's deceptive simplicity, it contains so many different emotions. I feel like it's one of those pieces that are both melancholic on the one hand, and serene and tranquil on the other, at the same time. The melancholy is so strong that the tranquility can be interpreted as its final stage, similar to how you find this in some of Schubert's more somber songs. This makes a lot of sense because the parts of the game where you hear this aren't exactly giving you a pat on your back for what you 'accomplish', instead they make you question your actions because you might start to feel bad for what you are doing.
The artist who drew the artwork wanted to remain anonymous.
