Back in June 2017, I showed a glitch that let's you use anything as fishing bait, but at the time, you could only have 1 item on the rod.

But later on, I found out that by having for emample, a petite fish on the fishing rod and anything on the lure rod, when I view Monica or the Ridepod's status while the fishing rod is equipped and use the "Remove lure" command on the lure rod, the opposite effect happens and nearly all of the petite fish in my inventory are added to the fishing rod, and since items on fishing rods don't count toward the quantity limit, you can now carry twice the max quantity of petite fish than intended. Do this with both rods and you can have a maximum of 2995 petite fish instead of 999!
