DAO's, or Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, are one of the many emerging use cases of blockchain technology. These offer brand new ways of organizing entities, offering a much-needed alternative to traditional structures that are often difficult to set up, opaque to outsiders, and beholden to a rat's nest of global regulations.In the last two years we've seen the creation of several DAO's and even some companies shifting from traditional companies into DAO's. Kent Barton works for one such project: ShapeShift DAO. In this talk Kent leveraged his experience to provide insight into the following:
- What exactly is (and isn't) a DAO?
- Why would anyone want to create or join a DAO?
- What are the downsides of DAO's?
- How can DAO's help advance the cause of freedom across the globe?
