On January 23, 1978 Terry Kath, the original guitarist and founding member of the band Chicago died.

Danny Seraphine and the band have said that losing Terry wasn’t just losing a guitarist — it was losing the soul of Chicago.

For years afterward, they were searching for something they couldn’t replace. The music continued, but the band was never quite the same.
