When Whitefish Mountain Resort sheds its winter coat, it transitions into a summer play land that extends way into fall. You can mountain bike, zip line, walk in the trees, and hike up/dow/both the mountain on the Danny On Trail.
The Danny On Trail gives you a great tour of the mountain bouncing between open ski runs with views and fantastic forests teeming with birds and berries. In the fall, huckleberries abound and the shrubs explode in burgundies, yellows, reds, and oranges.
Check with the mountain to see if the chairlift is still running. If it is, you can choose to hike up and save your knees on the way down, or you can ride up and cruise down the mountain. For those looking for a full day you can hike up and down and even take a couple of loop trails to East Rim and Flower Point to make an incredible day full of colors and views.
