The Tower of Montevideo is the new track from the new album, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows. Inspired by Palacio Salvo, an iconic 1920s building in Uruguay, it explores Albarn’s melancholic wonder at this part of South America, where Rio De La Plata meets the South Atlantic, a place he has described as both “familiar and utterly otherworldly.”
The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, the new studio album - released by new label home Transgressive Records.
Originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, this last year has seen a return to the music in lockdown and develop the work to 11 tracks. Further exploring themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth.
