Katy Proudfoot is an Associate Professor and Director of the Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island. She obtained her MSc and PhD from the Animal Welfare Program at the University of British Columbia, where her work focused on the behaviour and housing of cows during the period around calving. Katy will be discussing her research on the maternal behaviour of dairy cows and methods to improve the design of calving areas.
