Random video of the stage 3 boss. With relatively high rank, I think I found a safe spot by sitting in the center and a little above the bottom; probably requires further testing. I like to align myself with the vulcan shot. There's a tiny bit of leeway I think.
Stay above the bottom to prepare for the spinny tentacle attack, but make sure to back up when the tentacles lash at you. And when moving forward, only do so when a big bullet has gone past you, otherwise you'll crash into it as it comes down.
When the spinny attack comes, back up once you see it fired. There is a bit of delay between the tentacles stopping and the bullets actually being fired, so don't jump the gun. Alternatively, you can use a bomb.
