There are a surprising number of subtle differences between the original Daimler SP250 sports car version of the 2.5l V8 engine and the version Jaguar later installed in their Daimler badged MK2 saloon.
The SU HD6 carbs were different too - in several ways.
By the way, this means that the instructions for setting the float level in these carbs is different for the SP250 v the saloon. The SP250 workshop manual indicates using a 0.4375" (11.1125mm) diameter rod between the cap face & the forked lever. The saloon is different.
