When deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about an unresponsive infant, on January 8th, 2020, they initially believed they were dealing with a possible medical emergency.
But as the investigation developed, disturbing details quickly surfaced.
The minor, Zayden martin was found with injuries consistent with blunt force head trauma, shifting the case from a medical investigation to a homicide. Detectives soon set their sights on the boy’s father, 23-year-old Andrew Martin, who had been taking care of him at the time of his death.
