MyTinyKitchenDehydrating is an excellent way to preserve your harvest, make healthy snacks, and have fruit and vegetables available in the winter.
I love putting dried strawberries slices in my oatmeal in the morning. You can also use them in breads and muffins, as well as granola bars, or just snack on them by itself!
Dehydrating strawberries is easy to do! Wash your strawberries. Then take off the green stems and slice into 1/4″ thickness. Arrange onto the dehydrator trays. Put cover on. Set temperature to 130 degrees Farenheit. Dehydrate for 8-16 hours. Check the strawberries to make sure they are completely dry. They should feel like paper, and have no moisture. You’re better off drying for longer than the 16 hours, rather than not having the strawberries done completely. If they’re not dried completely, when you store your strawberries, you’ll have spoilage. Once the strawberries have dried, let them sit for 30 min before you put them into your storage container. They are still warm from being in the dehydrator, and thus you’ll get moisture in your container, and again, you’ll have spoilage.
Once the strawberries have cooled, you can start gathering them for your container. For short term storage, I use plastic bags. For long term storage, I use glass jars with food grade oxygen absorbers. Don’t forget to date your containers so that you can rotate your food!
I am using a 9-Tray Excalibur Dehydrator with a Timer. amzn.to/3xjZoeS I love my dehydrator and use it for all types of fruits and veggies. If at all possible, get one with a timer, as it makes a big difference in getting the best results without overdrying your food.

Melt all ingredients together except for oils. Once everything has melted, remove from heat, and stir in oils. Pour into molds, and let harden overnight. In the morning, pop out of molds and you can use them right away. NOTE: Because coconut oil has a melting point under 80 degrees, you may find that during the summer, your bars are softer, and during the winter they are harder. If you are making these lotion bars during the summer, and you want them to be harder, add more beeswax. If you make the lotion bars, and you still feel they are too soft, drop them back into your glass jar to melt, add more beeswax, and then remold.

Food Oxygen Absorbers amzn.to/3Yq3AWhHow to Crochet a Granny Square Border with Fan EdgeMyTinyKitchen2014-12-22 | For each row of granny squares, make 3dc(double crochet) in each opening. In each corner opening, crochet 3dc, chain 2, 3dc to make a flat corner. When you come around to the beginning, slipstitch into 1st 3dc to finish off the row. I did a total of 3 rows.
Once you finish all of your 3dc rows, for the next row, do 2sc (single crochet) in each opening, chain 3 to the next opening, and do 2sc, chain 3, and so on, repeat all the way around your border. This will create the base of your fan stitches. Make sure you also do a chain 3 in between the corners as well. Slipstitch to connect your border.
For the fan stitches, we will only be working in the chain 3 sections. The pattern is 1sc, 3dc, 1sc, in each chain. There is no connecting piece, you work from one chain straight to the next chain. Slipstich to connect your border and weave in your yarn end.

It is the only safe way to make sure you kill all the bacteria and preserve meat in a safe manner. Water boiling or pressure cooker is NOT enough.
I will show you how to can raw chicken in your pressure canner. The particular pressure canner model that I am using is the Presto Brand.
Always make sure to read your pressure canner instructions before attempting canning and follow directions accordingly. It's not hard, but you did need to follow specific instructions to stay safe.
I live at sea level, so times and pressure I mention will be for sea level. If you live at a higher or lower altitude, you will need to check a canning guide for adjustments. Raw chicken was processed at 11 pounds pressure - Pints (75 minutes), Quarts (90 minutes)

One way is mixing flour and water and adding it to your sauce, but I find that it does have more of a floury taste to your dinner.
The other way, which is the way I will show you today, is to mix cornstarch and water. It will add consistancy and thickness to your sauce, without a lot of change to taste.

Cooking rice the traditional way in a pot is much more exacting, and you need to spend a lot of time stirring so that you don't burn the pot. A rice cooker is sooo much more easier. You literally put in the rice and water, and then you just leave it and forget it - the pot will cook up perfect rice each time! You can make different types of rice in a rice cooker - whether it be white, rice, or other varieties. You can also steam vegetables and other things as well. A rice cooker is versatile for many things.
In this particular video, I will show you how to use a rice cooker for making brown rice. You can also check your rice cooker's directions for more specific instructions.
UPDATE: Since several people have asked - the rice cooker I have is an Aroma model ARC-1010SB
UPDATE: Many people seem to be confused by the water/rice proportions. It's NOT a true ratio. Whatever the amount of rice you are putting in, you want to put in the SAME amount of water, plus 1/2 cup. 1 cup of rice = 1 cup of water, plus 1/2 cup water = 1-1/2 cups of water 2 cups of rice = 2 cups of water, plus 1/2 cup water = 2-1/2 cups of water 3 cups of rice = 3 cups of water, plus 1/2 cup water = 3-1/2 cups of water 4 cups of rice = 4 cups of water, plus 1/2 cup water = 4-1/2 cups of water and so forth These are the instructions straight from the book for my rice cooker.
UPDATE: No, I do not wash the rice. You certainly can if you want to remove the extra starch, but I do not. It's just my preference.
UPDATE: Personal preference - I do not put any salt or seasonings in my rice when I'm cooking it, as I usually cook a large amount so I have it for several meals. When I assemble my meals, and mix the rice with meat or vegetables, that is when I add the seasonings, depending on what that particular recipe calls for.Bread Machine Whole Wheat_100% Whole WheatMyTinyKitchen2012-09-01 | Bread machines are so easy to use and you get great tasting fresh bread out of them for less than 5 minutes work!
