On April 16, 2026, LAPD arrested 21-year-old singer-songwriter d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her badly decomposed and dismembered remains were discovered in September 2025 inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to him, after the car was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and impounded.
David Burke is being held without bail. LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced at this press conference that David Burke, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder, continuous s/a and unlawful mutilation of human remains. His defense team has requested an open preliminary hearing as soon as possible (on the 10th day), specifically April 23, 2026.
