outro music courtesy of Voltaire: youtube.com/user/VoltaireMusicPageDrawing an animated cloud & adding it as a sub xsheet in OpenToonzDarren T2022-11-25 | Here, I share the process I went through to animate a floating thought bubble in for my last entry to the 11 second club.
I talk about how I drew the animation, using a guide layer, why I drew it the way I did. Then I show how I added this scene into a different scene in another project! Then I animated some movement of the bubble and used the effects to “matte in” another columns drawings.

#OpenToonz #Tahoma2D #AnimationThe best way to improve your animation! - Join me and practice with the 11 second clubDarren T2022-07-01 | What's the best way to improve your animation? Practice practice practice! There's a time to work on your ball bounces, flour sack movement and emoting, but you need practice with a complete cartoon. But creating your cartoon will be a long process for a single cartoon. And you need iteration, to practice the complete lifecycle. And this is where the 11 second club monthly competitions come in. Today, I'm inviting you to join me in entering the July competition. I'll be animating my entry on my livestreams, so I'd love you to hang out with me as I work on it. And surprisingly, it's that once you've set them up ... DON'T work with them!
Instead, render out all of your columns & effects to an image file. Then work ONLY with that image file. This increases both your preview and render times.

outro music courtesy of Voltaire: youtube.com/user/VoltaireMusicPageRendering as Webm can be better than GIF inTahoma2D (an OpenToonz fork) - Great for video overlays!Darren T2021-09-24 | In this video I explain why I prefer the WEBM video file format to GIF for short animations, when rendered from Tahoma2D. And I show how they are perfect for video overlays; showing some of my overlays. And showing how to render them.
Note, you can only render with a transparent background from Tahoma2D, which is an OpenToonz fork, so has virtually the same features as OpenToonz. But OpenToonz adds the camera colour as the background for WEBM files. You can currently open OpenToonz projects into Tahoma, if you have already built an overlay that you'd like to render as a WEBM.
Download Tahoma2D from www.Tahoma2D.org
One thing I forgot to mention in the video, is that adding a GIF file to Shotcut (my video editor) took a few minutes to import. Whereas adding the same length webm-rendered file took seconds. Another win :-)

I made this on a recent livestream, that you can watch to see all of the details, explanations and commands that I used. But this was a great exercise to practice re-use of drawings and shows how you can manipulate your exposed drawings by duplicating them. Plus, it shows how you can create an animation in one scene and import it into another to re-use it.
