Is it for you? Well, that's what we aim to find out in this video.
Price Point The first to chat about is the price. Currently, the RadTrike is priced at $1,699, so is that in your budget? I don't know your financial situation, but this is a good question to ask yourself. Rad Power Bikes also has financing available with Affirm, so you could finance it for a smaller monthly fee, if that’s what you need to do.
Use Case The first question I always ask someone when they walk into Power On Ebikes is if they’re coming in to do some Ebike research. If you’re watching this video, the answer is yes. The second question is always what will they primarily use the Ebike for. Now, if you’re looking at trikes, we can make some assumptions. You want something stable, that will primarily be used for paved or smooth surfaces. A trike is a good option for that. Most trikes don’t have a fast top speed, so you’re also comfortable going about 14MPH, which is the top speed of the RadTrike. You also are looking for a trike that has some decent nominal power, which is true in the case of the RadTrike’s 750-watt front hub motor. You also might want the ability to carry some things with you. Trikes in general usually have a rear basket for that purpose. The RadTrike doesn’t come with a rear basket stock, but you can add that to your order and install it over the rear axle. You’ve also got an option to install a front rack, really opening up the amount of things you can carry. One of the things it does come stock with is the comfort support seat, with an adjustable backrest. This is actually a great upgrade for any trike that allows you to be in an upright riding position, and it’s cool that it comes with the standard RadTrike. As far as weight is concerned, the trike is rated for a maximum payload of 415lbs, with a maximum rider weight of 325lbs. The rear rack is rated for 60lbs carrying capacity.
Range The next thing to look at is range, or how far you need your trike to go on a single charge. The RadTrike has a removable 10Ah battery. You need the key to turn it into the on position, but the key does not need to stay in the battery during use. Rad claims you can get 55+ miles of range, it’s more reasonable to assume most folks would get around 40-50 miles, if you’re doing a mix of pedaling and throttle at slower speeds. Now, if you’ve got hills or other factors, your range may decrease a bit, but since we’re not flying around at 28MPH here, I think this will be enough range for most folks. The other factor in range is the fact that the RadTrike is a single speed, so it should fair well with small to average inclines, but probably wouldn’t fare too well with moderate to extreme inclines.
Terrain As far as the ideal riding surfaces go, you’re really going to want to stay to paved or tightly packed trails. The tires are a bit on the smaller side, with all 3 tires being 18” x 2.25”. These wouldn’t do well in a soft dirt or sand environment. If you’re primary going to be riding this thing off-road and spending some time in the sand, I’d recommend looking at something that has at least a 4” wide tire.
Transport and Weight If you plan on doing any sort of transport or lifting, the weight would be a big factor. I weighed the trike in at 78.79lbs, with the battery installed. The battery itself weighs 8.23lbs, so if you take the battery off, that gets it down to 70.56lbs, and as far as trikes go, that’s not terribly heavy. Now, only you could know if it is too heavy for you to transport, so I’ll leave you with that.
Width The width of the trike is 33 ⅛” at the rear wheels. This tells us two things. First, that it will be pretty stable since it has that wider wheelbase. This is one of the more stable trikes I’ve ridden due to its low center of gravity, smaller tires, and wide wheelbase. It’s not impossible to put on two wheels, but you really have to throw your weight into it to do so. It also has a differential in the rear wheel, which means the tires can spin at different speeds, and make basically zero-degree turns. Secondly, it may be difficult to get through some doors, depending on how wide your doors are. I would recommend measuring your doors if you’re in an apartment or a house without a garage. If you have a garage, you should be just fine!
Extras Next, let’s chat about some of the extras that come with this trike. First off, we have a full set of fenders on the front and rear tires. We have a full chain guard, which is an excellent touch, and something that is pretty interesting, is a guard over the rear axel assembly, to keep any chain grease from flinging up in the bottom side of the rear rack. What is The Perfect Ride Series? | Ebike Reviews for First-Time BuyersRide Review2024-08-15 | If you're deep down the rabbit hole of Ebike research, you might be feeling overwhelmed, and frustrated because you're still not any closer to finally buying that Ebike you've talked about buying for the past several months. That is not a fun place to be, and the main reason we created The Perfect Ride Series.
There is a TON of information online, and no shortage of reviews! So, why will these reviews be different? A few reasons:
1. We're not conducting these reviews to sell bikes. You'll notice no affiliate links in these videos. We truly believe that there is an Ebike out there that will do exactly what you need it to do. 2. We're creating these to be helpful to the first-time Ebike buyer. You'll notice a bit more education in these videos and a further explanation of specs, and why they're important. 3. We're making these videos FOR YOU, not the brands. If you have any questions, always feel free to leave them in the comment section and we will do our best to find you the answers you're looking for. Also, we would love your suggestions on what products to cover.
Our goal is to help you find the right Ebike for you. That means we'll be covering some of the most popular questions about these products, and explaining the use cases they're designed for, and where they might fall short. There is nothing worse than spending your hard-earned paycheck, only to discover you've invested in an Ebike platform that does not work for you. (or doesn't work at all, which is a major bummer!)
It is my hope that you enjoy these videos, get to check out some of the latest and greatest Ebikes on the market, and learn some important things along the way.
Ride safe,
-Mitch Hackleman Ride Review/The Perfect Ride SeriesIs the Lectric XP Trike for you? | The Perfect Ride Series @LectriceBikesRide Review2024-08-14 | Here at The Perfect Ride Series, we have one goal: get people on the right Ebike for them. There's no such thing as a perfect Ebike, but there might be a perfect Ebike for you.
If you're thinking about buying the @LectriceBikes XP Trike, hopefully, this video helps you decide if this is the right EV for you.
Price Point Is it in your budget? Priced at $1,499, you have to ask yourself if this is in your budget. Lectric does also offer financing through Affirm, so that would be an option here.
Use Case - Will it do what you need it to do?
What it’s good at For those of you looking for a stable ride, a trike platform offers that in spades. If you’re not looking to go terribly fast, and just need something that is perfect for leisurely rides, then this would be a good option. The top speed here is 15MPH and if you’re thinking that’s plenty fast for you, you’re on the right track here. If you’re looking to carry additional cargo, Lectric offers a cargo package that should allow you to transport whatever you need. They have a rear basket, and front rack that can fit a variety of things, a small grocery run, your pickleball paddles, that sort of stuff. As far as trikes go, this thing is pretty light. It’s only 69.9 lbs and, this is one of the lighter trikes on the market. With the large rear basket and battery installed, I weighed it in at 84.6lbs. The foldability is a huge plus for those short on space, and the width is only 29.5”, so it should fit comfortably through most doors, if you’re bringing it in and out of your house or apartment. That is the widest part of the Trike, with the handlebars coming in at 25” across. It also has a differential in the rear axel, which allows the back wheels to spin at different speeds, meaning you can make basically 0-degree turns. This makes it good at navigating in tighter spaces, whereas trikes that don’t have that would be harder to maneuver. It also makes it a bit more stable when turning. It’s not impossible to get on 2 wheels, but it’s pretty hard to do. Having the smaller 20” wheels helps with that as well. It also caters to a wide variety of riders. The seat and handlebars are adjustable, in two ways, and it is rated for a 330lb rider, and a total payload of 415 lbs, with the basket and and front rack loaded down.
What it’s not so good at First off, the tires here are 2.6” wide tires, so they’re not going to do too well in an off-road, or loose terrain environment. If you’re looking for a trike to take on the beach, these tires wouldn’t necessarily be good for that. It is a single speed, so hills might be a challenge, since you can’t change gears. It does have that 500-watt motor, which peaks at 1092-watts, so easy to moderate hills, shouldn’t give it too much trouble.
Measurements - Will you fit on it, and enjoy the riding position? Minimum and Maximum seat height Minimum - 28” to floor, 25” to pedals at lowest points Maximum - 39.5” to floor, 37.5” to pedal at lowest point Stepover height 13.5” effective step-through height Rider height Lectric’s estimate of 4’11” to 6’4” seems to be fair, though if you’re over 6’, it would be hard to get into a straight upright position, based on the adjustability of the handlebars.
Specs When it comes to specs, we could be here for the next several hours going into detail on every piece, but we’ll cover the most important specs, in 4 categories. Motor and Battery, Electronics, Safety, and Extras.
The Motor The motor is a rear-drive, 500-watt motor that peaks at 1092 watts. It does have some get-up-and-go, and a top speed of 15MPH. It is a very quiet motor, as far as electric motors go, having a reading of 58.7db at the handlebars. In comparison, the Aventon Pace500.3 measured 67.2db, and the Velotric Nomad measured 68.6db at the same distance.
The Battery The battery is a 48V, 14Ah, 672Wh battery that is UL-certified. It is easily removed from behind the seatpost and should translate into roughly 40-50 miles of range for us average folks, while Lectric claims a 60-mile max range on their website. I’m sure a small person in pedal assist level 1 could possibly reach that, but if I was on it,w I’d expect closer to 45 miles for me and my riding style. e
Safety The whole trike is UL 2849 certified, and the battery is UL 2271 certified, so it is up to date with the latest standards, which is a huge plus from a safety perspective. The tires here, which are all 20”x2.6”, have sidewall reflective stripes which are an excellent safety feature to see.

Whether you're not quite ready for the big moto leagues, or just want something a bit more tame for cruising around town, the Anza 750S from Monday Motorbikes is worth checking out. It's rugged appearance is reminiscent of 1980s-era cafe racer motorcycles, right down to the long stitched leather seat that's perfect for riding two-up (or just stretching out your legs if you're a taller rider). It's built with quality components across the board, including bright integrated lights and a gas tank styled cover for the removable battery.

Exploring Amsterdam on the CrossRide Review2024-07-09 | I have been cycling my entire life and live in one of the most cycling-friendly cities in the United States, but I was absolutely blown away by the experience of cycling in Amsterdam. It's reputed to be the most cycling-friendly city in the world, and I can see why; a powerful combination of infrastructure, policy, and culture is what keeps so many people here on two wheels year-round.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pre-production Cowboy Cross, the company's latest-and-greatest electric bike. It's their first all-road model, equipped with dual suspension and versatile mixed-use tires. It's also packed with connectivity features, and I'm a big fan of the whisper-silent belt drive.

It's their first model ever but you wouldn't have guessed it based on the quality of the Anthem; this machine is designed well and built even better! It's designed for city commuting, and while it's certainly highway capable when it comes to speed, those highway miles will eat up your battery at an alarming rate. Highlights include the adjustable height seat and an easily removable 4.3KWh battery, mounted low and center to give the Anthem a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
This is a first impressions video, so stay tuned for future episodes where I'll do some modding and upgrades, and test out the J-plug adapter when I take my Anthem on some longer adventures.
