Cycle Touring Ireland: Biking the Irish Coast
The UK & Ireland bike tour continues, and we'd arrived on the Emerald Isle! This time, we'd cycle tour from Dublin to Cork for 5 days. Cycling along the east coast of Ireland and we camped and pedalled our way through the Irish countryside. Bike travel in Ireland is stunning, and Irish hospitality didn't disappoint. We met countless local Irish people and even another cycle touring couple from France who we joined forces with for two days. We wild camped on a beach, were hosted by Irish Gaelic speakers who taught us about Irish culture, and enjoyed the last of the warm weather as summer began to recede into autumn.
2023 Update: These cycle touring videos were filmed back in 2021. As of 2023 Jill and I are no longer together and Jill is not affiliated with this channel in any way. Wishing her all the best for the future!

Why on earth do people bathe in crude oil in Azerbaijan? What’s life like in a breakaway state in Moldova? And why have displaced people been living in an abandoned Soviet hospital in Georgia for 28 years?
In 2018, I set out on the adventure of a lifetime; a 6,000km cycle tour from Northern Norway to Azerbaijan, most of it solo. I didnt do it because of a secret passion for bicycles - in fact, I had almost no cycling experience at all. Instead, I’d decided to try to combine journalism with cycle touring, and was hoping to meet people from different walks of life that I’d never otherwise cross paths with. The goal, apart from making it from point A to point B, was to see the world through their eyes and document the experience.
This was my first real taste of adventure travel, and every mile pedalled, every mountain climbed, and every emotional breakdown endured, was in search of stories that I knew I’d never stumble across if I was travelling by car, bus, or train. Now, 13 countries and two-and-a-half years later, in collaboration with TV2 Skole, I’m finally starting to tell them!
