Cyberpunk 2077 Boostergangs are bands of street thugs, enhanced with cybernetic technology (hence boosters). Due to members typically suffering or near the edge of cyberpsychosis, they tend to be the most violent type. On this video I explain in under 5 minutes the most important aspects of this face of Night City Power tug-of-war

The list of confirmed booster gangs so far: Maelstrom, Animals, Voodoo boys, 6th street, The Mox, Tiger Claws, Valentinos and the scavengers.

The maelstroms are a gang obsessed with cybertechnology and the urge to improve over the ‘weak flesh’. We had a glimpse on how they operate on the 2018 demo gameplay when we retrieved the flat-head robot. They can be easily recognizable by their cyberlimbs and huge optical augmentations that almost always cover their whole faces.

The Animals are an aggressive street-fighting gang that roams multiple regions of Night City. They are obsessed with body enhancements and modifications. We also saw quite a bit of them in the 2018 gameplay. We even saw a fight sequence against one of their leaders, Sasquatch. They are almost impossible not to recognize, they are classic gym rats elevated to the power of 20.

The Voodoo Boys holds some of the most brilliant netrunners from Night City. They have strong backgrounds related to Haiti (which is long gone thanks to massive climate change). We had a chance to ‘meet’ them this year on the deep dive demo. They mostly feature african-style elements such as dreadlocks for example.

The 6th street gang is one of the oldest still around Night City by 2077. It was founded mostly by veterans of the Fourth Corporate War who were tired of local gang activity and decided to take matters into their own hands. Their motivation is ‘to bring justice to the city’ whatever that even means in their crazy interpretation of the law. Their style screams for patriotism and is heavily influenced by old school military outfits.

My personal favorite gang was first showcased just recently on the first episode of Night City Wire. The Mox are a small gang consisting mostly of sex workers (yeah, you heard it right, a sex workers gang). The Mox is probably the closest gang we will see that stands for what is to be a Cyberpunk 2077. Some of their members have a special version of RealSkill body modification that gives them a plastic look (imitating a doll). This is why their skin was so glowing on the gameplay footage.

Moving on, we have the Tyger Claws, one of the biggest gangs of Night city. They are ruthless, powerful and have a strict code of honor. They are the cyberpunk 2077 version of our Yakuza. Tyger Claw foot soldiers are easily recognizable by their luminous Asian tattoos, fast street bikes and of course Katanas.

The valentinos are probably the biggest gang currently operating in Night City, with an estimated member count of 6000 people. The majority of Valentinos gang members are of Mexican heritage. They often display their gang tattoos and gold jewelry with religious motifs (like all things in 2077, often highly sexualized).

The last gang from Night City was also showcased on the 2018 demo. They are ruthless lowlife scum who kidnapp and murder people for parts. The so-called scavengers lack structure and organization. Their groups are scattered across the city and you will almost never see a large group of them in a single place.
