Use the right tool when cutting your bike cables. A set of pliers is NOT the correct tool! Pliers will crush your cables to cut them. A proper cable cutter like the Park Tool CN-10 will actually push all the strands of your cable inwards while cutting and give you a much better result. You can also use this tool to cut your cable housing and crimp the cable caps to the end of your cables.
