For this tutorial you will need blender 2.74 or upwards and works best with alpha clipped textures.
In this video I show you how to make your:
-trees
-foliage
-grass
-hair etc.
look a lot better in the blender game engine using custom normals.
This smooths out the faces, for evenly distributed lighting which will allow for much more accurate representations of point lamps etc.

Tried using adaptive subdivision and maxed out 16gb of my ram which has never happened before. Took ages to render because of volumetrics but Im pleased with the result.
