The Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, and Rory face off against Captain Avery and his crew, and a killer Siren who leaves the Black Spot on the hands on her future victims.
This sixth series episode of new Doctor Who is often overlooked as skippable and filler in an otherwise great first half of the season. But is it underrated? This episode is a great Halloween episode with a fun use of the setting (who doesn't love some good piracy and monsters?).

In the episode, the alien time traveller the Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) land on board a pirate ship in the 17th century. The ship's crew is terrorized by a Siren-like creature. After receiving an injury, however minor, a black spot appears on their palms and then the creature apparently disintegrates them.
