Kierio04 | CTGP Tracks Done Backwards - Abandoned Boardwalk 0x Respawns (No Ultra) @Kierio04 | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 7 hours ago
In this video, I drive a full lap of the custom track Abandoned Boardwalk backwards with the 3 mushrooms available in time trials. However, because it doesn't require all of them, I don't use all of them. In order for a track to count as being completed backwards, you must start in lap 1 and travel through all of lap 0 backwards, finishing by reaching lap -1. We will be going through the tracks of the CTGP 1.03-1112 update (29 Sep 2021) alphabetically, and returning to any past tracks if breakthroughs are made that change the statistics of the progression of the challenge (more on this later in the description).
Playlist of these videos: bit.ly/ctgpbackwards
Here, there are NO respawns that are mandatory to complete the track backwards, and there is only ONE section requiring a single mushroom, however an alternate route is shown at the end of the video that does a trade-off of mushrooms and time. For more alternate routes, see the end of the 1x Respawns video.
There are 3 blocks on this track:
1. Getting onto the second boardwalk
2. Getting onto the first boardwalk
3. Getting off of the first boardwalk
This video is an improvement over the previous no ultra strat that completed the track backwards in 1 respawn shroomless (youtu.be/i_4hiMbGY-c).
Since then, @Jellopuff_TAS found a way to skip the 2nd block without respawning by doing a wallclip to skip KCP 4, then a wallclip to get back onto the track in order to drive forward all the way around the lap to hit KCP 3 and continue driving backwards (3:18). About an hour later, he came up with a way to bypass the first wallclip by utilising an absolutely genius application of repeated sideways sliding; maintaining the angle required to hanging off the track using the back wheel, in order to keep the vehicle's centre (where position is calculated from) off of the track and outside the KCP, thereby never entering it (1:47).
Not only is this now the longest backwards run to be uploaded on this channel, sitting at 5 minutes and 15 seconds, but this is also the run with the greatest diversity of tech used:
- This run in particular has; wallclips, wall shuffling, seam riding, wall hugging, slow wheelie glitch, sliding
- Other mushroom/respawn routes additionally have; wall hanging, horizontal wall glitch, and dropdown clips
I doubt we will see another track like this.
In summary, Abandoned Boardwalk (without using the reverse ultra) has the following statistics to offer:
Minimum Respawns for Infinite Mushrooms: 0
Minimum Respawns for 3, 2, 1, 0 Mushrooms: 0, 0, 0, 1
Minimum Mushrooms for Minimum Respawns: 1
Minimum Mushrooms for Track Completion: 0
