This silent video reviews one’s options when addressing yarn feed tension issues on a CSM Topper when working Heels or Toes and using the Heel Spring. Often the vintage parts have a Brake area that slips and causes the engaged Heel Spring to slip also. When tension slips it causes the yarn to go slack and makes it much easier to drop stitches when going back and forth (for making Heels and Toes on a CSM). Certainly sometimes it can be a misadjusted Heel Spring (or one that needs replacing) however sometimes with thinner yarn especially, it’s a slipping Brake. I suggest an easy and inexpensive upgrade to increase the Brake effectiveness on vintage CSM toppers of this and similar design. For more great CSM info check out my free CSM resource at csmlove.com
