CSI Skill Tree is a series that examines and celebrates how video games envision possible futures, build rich and thought-provoking worlds, and engage people as active participants in unfolding and interpreting stories. In this episode, we take a close look at “Outer Wilds,” an award-winning immersive adventure game about unraveling the mysteries of a solar system caught in a time loop. The game was released in 2019, and was developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive.

Luc Riesbeck (he/they) is a space policy and research analyst at Astroscale U.S., where he engages in cross-disciplinary collaboration to build comprehensive solutions to orbital sustainability challenges and enable the long-term stewardship of the space environment. He is a graduate of the Space Policy Institute master’s program at George Washington University. His research interests include ethics in science and technology, history, and applications for advanced robotics for rendezvous and proximity operations in space.
