We got a couple of comments from viewers who watched our earlier video "Comet CSB-750A vs the HOA!!" They told us we should never install an antenna so close to a wall. Reasons included: We don't know the construction of the wall or what's inside it; The SWR will be so high it will damage the radio; The radiation pattern will be terrible. These are all true comments and concerns! However, we always recommend hams check their installations, including checking antennas for high SWR, which could indeed damage your radio. For a temporary installation, done just to get on the air and defeat the HOA, the radiation pattern of any compromised antenna installation is what it is!
So, is the SWR so high in this installation that it'll damage the radio? Remember, your results WILL vary, so check before you press that PTT!
