In Part 1 of our Australian circumnavigation, we sail aboard Coral Princess from Fremantle to Cairns, following Australia’s vast western and northern coastline through Western Australia, the Kimberley, the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. This is not a short hop — it’s a full lap of a continent.
Our adventure begins in Fremantle, one of Australia’s most important embarkation ports, before heading north to Broome, home of Cable Beach, pearling history and blistering heat. We then cruise deep into the remote Kimberley coast, with scenic sailing through York Sound, dramatic storms, red sandstone cliffs and wildlife-filled waters. A rare stop at Kuri Bay gives us insight into Australia’s pearling industry with Paspaley Pearls — including a visit ashore to one of the most isolated working settlements in the country.
From there, we arrive in Darwin, Australia’s northernmost capital, exploring its waterfront, street art and laid-back tropical lifestyle, before continuing on to Cairns — gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Here we snorkel the outer reef at Milln Reef, encounter vibrant coral, marine life and yes… Nemo.
