We’re back in Atomcraft, and after spending far too long overengineering the problem, I finally discover the painfully simple solution to making vanadium carbide steel: build the blender gun and mix it manually.
With enough material for the new drill, I can finally break through the olivine and explore a completely new underground layer filled with strange mushrooms, lava caves, crude oil and a hidden laboratory packed with chemicals.
Unfortunately, the laboratory also contains a huge amount of nitroglycerin and trusting me anywhere near explosive chemicals goes exactly as well as you’d expect.
After surviving the explosion, I bring some crude oil home and discover that it can be separated into heavy oil, kerosene, gasoline and diesel. Atomcraft has officially gone from questionable chemistry experiments to full-scale oil refining.
