The Goroka Show takes place each year in September in Goroka Town, Eastern Highlands Province.
The Goroka Show is a huge cultural event in the Highlands region of PNG (Papua New Guinea). It is also the longest running annual cultural festival in Papua New Guinea drawing thousands of tourists to the country every year in September during Independence Day celebrations.
Over 100 tribes from all over Papua New Guinea participate in the event performing Sing-sing.
The Goroka Show began in 1957 and was first introduced and organized by Australian officers known as 'kiaps' (Pigeon for cops?).
