Use this stitch for making sweaters, blankets, hats, scarves, or any project. I am giving you the instructions for a washcloth, but just begin with any number of foundation chain in
multiples of 4 + 5.

HOW TO CROCHET THE
1/2 ALMOND STITCH:
Start with a slip knot.
Work a foundation chain in multiples of 4 + 5.
1. For a washcloth: chain 29.
2.Slip stitch in the 2nd stitch from the hook and in the next 3 stitches,
*Half-double crochet in the next 4 stitches, slip stitch in the next 4, repeat
from * across the row.
3. For the remainder of the work,
work in the BACK LOOP of the stitch.
Chain 1 and turn,
* half-double crochet in the next 4 stitches, (the 1st hdc is worked in the 2nd stitch from the hook), slip stitch in the next 4,
repeat from* across the row.
4. Chain 1 and turn, slip stitch in the first 4 stitches, (the 1st ss is worked in the 2nd stitch from the hook)
*half-double crochet in the next 4 stitches, slip stitch in the next 4 stitches,
repeat from * across the row.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the work is the desired size. Fasten off, weave
yarn ends into the finished work.
