In my crochet tutorial today I'll be showing you how to make this crochet gymnast applique.

If you would like to view the crochet pattern for free, it's on my website at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-gymnast-pattern or you can download it from Ravelry at ravelry.com/patterns/library/gymnast for $1 at and LoveCrafts at lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/catalog/product/view/id/441229

You can also subscribe to Kerri's Crochet Newsletter and get a free copy of the Crochet Cat Towel eBook at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-pattern-ebook-and-newsletter

For this pattern you will need any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Catona crochet cotton colours (115) Hot Red, (105) Bridal White and (162) Black Coffee.  A crochet hook, I used a 2.5mm hook.  A darning needle to weave in ends.  A pair of scissors.  Sewing thread and a needle to stitch the gymnast together.  A black bead, black felt or fine black cotton for the eye if desired.

The finished size will be 12.5cm wide x 18cm high (5” wide x 7” high) for the larger gymnast, using 8 ply crochet cotton. The size of the gymnast in Catona will be 13cm wide x 16cm high (5” wide x 6.25” high). The medium gymnast will be 9.5cm wide x 12.5cm high (3.75” wide x 5” high) when using 4 ply crochet cotton. The small gymnast will be 6cm wide x 9.5cm high (2.5” wide x 3.75” high) when using 2 ply crochet cotton.
