This datapack simulates several block automata in Minecraft.
Block Automata are a family of cellular automata where the grid is divided into non-overlapping blocks, with the future generation of each block determined as a whole based on its previous state. A more formal definition can be found on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_cellular_automaton
A useful, interactive playground for understanding how this family of automata works can be found here: dmishin.github.io/js-revca/index.html
As always, the datapack can be found on my GitHub: github.com/DqwertyC/block-automata-datapack
Chapters:

0:24 Billiard Ball Machine
0:58 String Thing II
