Far less is know about the life of Crispus Attucks than his untimely death. Early reports from of the Boston Massacre refer to Attucks as "Michael Johnson", which may have been a name he used as an intentional alias.
In the mid 1800s, authors Harriet Beecher Stowe and Wendell Phillips contributed to his and others rightful place in United States history with their support for a book which compiled true stories of Black & Indigenous Patriots of The American Revolution titled "Colored Patriots of The American Revolution". The book, written by William Cooper Nell (1816 - 1874), logically features Crispus Attucks as the first story.
