Crimson Moon launches September 1 for twenty dollars, and almost every preview is calling it a co-op soulslike. The developers keep calling it something else: a roguelike. So I went through every official explainer and the developer AMA to work out how this thing actually plays, and a few of the answers genuinely surprised me — including the fact that it has no corpse run at all.
We're covering the run structure, the life pool, loot purification, the two separate currencies, Angel Ascension and the second unlockable angel form, the thirty-plus weapon types, the hub and its vampire blacksmith, how co-op scales, and why difficulty is the actual endgame.
Everything here comes from the developers' own videos and their AMA, not from reviews — nobody outside the studio has played a final build yet, so we won't really know how it holds together until it's in our hands. Let me know in the comments whether the roguelike structure makes you more interested or less.
