John Goglia recalls the United Airlines crash in 1978-79 that led to the development of crew resource management (CRM). However, CRM did not gain significant attention until the mid-1980s. In 1988, John, who was a mechanical representative on various committees, recognized the potential benefits of implementing a similar program in maintenance. It took three years for him to garner industry support for starting human factors programs in maintenance. This highlights the importance of incorporating CRM principles in maintenance practices for improved safety and efficiency.
